Is Scan Ladder Open?

This video explains the open nature of the Scan Ladder system. It shows how Scan Ladder is designed to integrate with a wide range of intraoral scanners, implant systems, and CAD platforms, helping clinicians maintain flexibility without being restricted to a closed digital ecosystem.

Do You Need to Use the Same Screw?

This video explains the role of screw compatibility within the Scan Ladder workflow. It covers why using the correct screw is important, how this relates to different MUA and implant systems.

Why Are Screws Replaceable and What Are the Libraries?

This video explains why Scan Ladder screws are replaceable and how this supports reliable clinical use over time. It also introduces the Scan Ladder library structure, including simple libraries and manufacturer replacement libraries, helping users understand how scan body data is transferred into CAD software.

How to Install the Scan Ladder Simple Library in Exocad

This video provides a step-by-step guide to installing the Scan Ladder Simple Library in Exocad. The Simple Library is designed for direct-to-MUA workflows and allows users to align Scan Ladder scan bodies within Exocad for compatible full-arch implant cases.

How to Install Scan Ladder Manufacturer Libraries in Exocad

This video shows how to install Scan Ladder Manufacturer Replacement Libraries in Exocad. These libraries should overwrite or replace the relevant original manufacturer library, rather than being installed as a duplicate side-by-side library. This allows users to continue using the manufacturer’s existing model, analogue, Ti-base, angulation, rotation, and screw workflow, but with Scan Ladder as the scan body.

How to Align and Use Scan Ladder Libraries in Exocad

This video explains how to align and use Scan Ladder libraries in Exocad after installation. It guides users through the practical steps involved in matching Scan Ladder scan bodies, applying the correct library, and using the data within a full-arch implant CAD workflow.

Library Options

For the Scan Ladder Library, you have two options. All options are matched based on the common cylinder. The shapes and irregular random surfaces are designed to improve scan accuracy.

The main aim is to Match the Cylinder Part:

  1) Simple Library:

This library appears as Scan Ladder in Exocad and is primarily used for various screws that are directly compatible with MUA: Rosen, Vortex, Powerball, Dess, IPD, etc.

There are also compatible model creator libraries available where you can select the one you want to use, such as Rosen/OSSTEM/etc.

  2) Manufacturer Replacement Libraries:

These are modified libraries that allow you to choose the manufacturer of your choice from the Exocad library list. Then, you can match the cylinder on the MUA options with the Scan Ladder-specific virtual library. This enables you to use manufacturer-specific options like rotation lock, angulation, components, and analogues.

If you have any other library not listed, simply send the Exocad library to info@scanladder.com, and our team will have it back to you as soon as possible, usually within a day or two.

Manufacturer Exocad Libraries

Exocad Manufacturer Replacement Libraries are the original implant manufacturer libraries adapted to work with Scan Ladder. Instead of matching the manufacturer’s standard scan body, Exocad matches the Scan Ladder common cylinder, while keeping the original manufacturer workflow, Ti-bases, analogues, screw options and restorative components.

This means you scan with Scan Ladder, but design using the familiar manufacturer system inside Exocad. Scan Ladder replaces the scan body matching geometry only; it does not replace the prosthetic components.

Because the Manufacturer Replacement Library already contains the manufacturer’s analogue and model workflow, you usually do not need a separate Scan Ladder Model Creator library. You continue using the manufacturer’s model creator/analogue options, just with Scan Ladder as the scan body.

Please watch the video above before installing, as the key point is that the Manufacturer Replacement Library must overwrite or replace the original manufacturer library. It should not sit side by side as a duplicate library, because duplicate original and replacement libraries can cause Exocad to load the wrong scan body geometry or create conflicts in the workflow.

So the lab can scan with Scan Ladder, but still design using the familiar manufacturer workflow inside Exocad. If you need any other libraries converted, please email the Exocad library file to support@scanladder.com for conversion.
