Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered

Is Scan Ladder Open?

Is Scan Ladder an open system? Yes. Scan Ladder has been designed to support open digital dentistry and to work across a wide range of scanners, implant systems, and CAD workflows. In this video, we explain what “open” means in practical terms, how Scan Ladder libraries work, and why clinicians are not locked into one scanner, software platform, or closed workflow.

What Is Included in the Scan Ladder Kit?

What do you actually get inside a Scan Ladder kit? In this video, we take you through the components included in the Scan Ladder kit and explain what each part is used for within the full-arch implant scanning workflow. This is ideal for clinicians, technicians, and distributors who want a clear overview of the system before using it clinically.

What Is Included in the Scan Ladder TissueSync Kit?

TissueSync is designed to support better soft tissue matching and cross-dataset alignment within the Scan Ladder workflow. In this video, we explain what is included in the TissueSync kit and how the components are used alongside Scan Ladder scan bodies. TissueSync helps clinicians and technicians improve scan merging, soft tissue capture, prosthetic planning, and overall workflow predictability.

What Is the Difference Between Scan Ladder and TissueSync?

Scan Ladder and TissueSync are designed to work together, but they have different roles. In this video, we explain the difference between Scan Ladder scan bodies and TissueSync markers, including when and why each should be used. Scan Ladder focuses on accurate implant position capture, while TissueSync supports soft tissue matching, scan alignment, and improved merging between different datasets.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Category title

1. What is the Scan Ladder Titanium Direct Kit?

The Scan Ladder Titanium Direct Kit is an advanced scanning solution designed to provide unparalleled accuracy for full-arch implant restorations. It features titanium with milled fit surfaces, a centralized arch design for lab verification, a single unified library, and patented random surface technology. These innovations ensure a precise, passive fit and seamless integration with major CAD platforms.

2. How accurate is the Scan Ladder system?

The Scan Ladder system achieves accuracy within 5-25 microns, which is comparable to high-end intraoral photogrammetry systems such as the Shining Elite and External Photogrammetry devices but at a fraction of the cost. This ensures exceptional results for full-arch cases.

3. What makes the patented random surface technology unique?

The patented random surface ensures each scan frame is perfectly distinguished, enabling unmatched accuracy in data alignment and passive fit. This technology is exclusive to the Scan Ladder system and is a game-changer for full-arch workflows.

4. Is the Scan Ladder system compatible with my scanner?

Yes, the Scan Ladder system is designed to work with most major intraoral scanners, including the Medit i900, i700, Densply Sirona Primescan, Dexis/Carestream, 3Shape, iTero and Shining 3D Elite. It also integrates seamlessly with CAD platforms like Exocad, making it a flexible solution for your workflow.

5. What are the benefits of the centralized arch design?

The centralized arch design improves accuracy during scanning by minimising initial frames and also lab verification by allowing CAD software to recognize the centra matching cylinder around the screw axis. This ensures maximum accuracy and reduces errors during the design process.

6. What is included in the Scan Ladder Titanium Direct Kit?

The Titanium Direct Kit includes 6 scan bodies for versatility. You can also purchase 2 optional longer scan bodies, giving you up to 8 scan bodies in one kit.

7. Is there training available for using the Scan Ladder system?

Yes, we offer a comprehensive course that covers the entire All-On-X workflow with Scan Ladder. You can access it here:Digital Dental Academy - All-On-X Course. On order you will receive a code to get free access.

8. What is the cost of the Scan Ladder system?

The Titanium Direct Kit is available for £750 and offers exceptional long-term value with reusable precision. For those on a budget, the Indirect Kit is available at just £95 per case, offering outstanding performance.

9. Where can I find research supporting the accuracy of Scan Ladder?

A peer-reviewed publication highlights the accuracy of the Scan Ladder system, showing results comparable to high-end photogrammetry scanners like the Shining 3D Elite. You can read the study here:Read the Publication.

10. How can I get support or ask additional questions?

11. How do I install a library?

For the Scan Ladder Library

You have two options here. All options you can download on the website;

https://www.scanladder.com/pages/cad-library

All options have the match based on the common cylinder.

The shapes and irregular random surface is to improve accuracy of the scan.

In terms of the library to match the cylinder part;

1) Simple Library

This library comes up as Scan Ladder in exocad and is mainly for the various screws that are direct to MUA: Rosen, vortex, powerball, Dess, IPD etc

There’s some compatible model creator libraries available where you select the one you want to use eg Rosen/osstem/etc

2) Manufacturer Replacement libraries

These are amended libraries so that you choose the manufacturer of your choice in the exocad library list and then match the cylinder on the MUA options with the scan ladder specific virtual library. This enables you to use manufacturer specific options like rotation lock, angulation, components, analogs etc.

If you want any other library not listed, simply send the exocad library over to support@scanladder.com and I’ll have it back to you asap. Usually within a day or two max.
